Our Vision

At Castleton School we aim to maintain our position at the heart of the community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.

We encourage an understanding of what it means to belong to a Christian community and promote Christian values throughout the curriculum and daily life in our unique school.

Through example we demonstrate to children that we care for them and respect their individuality, have a positive perception of them, understand their feelings and listen to their views. Pupils are given a voice through the School Council, and are encouraged to co-operate with and support each other in the classroom, playground and beyond.

We aim to foster an open-minded and inquisitive approach, to encourage pupils to do their best at all times and to take responsibility for their own learning. Our standards have been consistently high over a period of several years, this we strive to maintain ensuring that every child reaches their full potential.

We provide an exciting, broad and balanced educational experience that encompasses different teaching styles in order to meet the needs of all the children. We ensure the outdoors is used to full potential by including outdoor education and visits in our curriculum planning.  Our children also learn about aspects of the world in which we live, including other faiths and cultures so the children have knowledge of, and respect for these.

We work in partnership with the parents and stakeholders in our community offering an inclusive environment that gives value to everyone’s contributions. We warmly welcome those families that are keen to join our community through our offer of Flexi-schooling. We regularly welcome parents into school for celebrations and sharing of information about curriculum initiatives. We keep parents regularly informed about their child’s all-round development.

As a Church School, we maintain a strong relationship with the Church and village community we take part in community events and the school regularly extends invitations to the community to come and join in with celebrations and events.

These aims will ensure that we contribute to developing thoughtful, knowledgeable, confident and independent young people who will be an asset to society in the future.
